Slatted Bed Base For Antique British Iron Beds Adjustable

The adjustable slatted bed base is shown here on a 140 cm by 190 cm (4 ft 6″ by 6 ft 3″ ) French double bed.

This new adjustable bed base is for use on standard size 4 ft 6″ double beds, as well as odd sized beds.

It is suitable for many vintage and antique British beds measuring between 3 ft 9″ and 5 ft 1″ wide by a standard length of 6 ft 3″ long.

It can be used with metal and wooden framed beds.

Size:

• The length is fixed at 188 cm long – to fit a 190 cm length bed.
• The width is not notched and can extend to any size between 85 cm and 156 cm wide.
• In particular it is excellent for the following size beds:
  • 3 ft 9″ x 6 ft 3″ – Large Single 115 cm x 190 cm
  • 4 ft x 6 ft 3″ – Small Double 120 cm x 190 cm
  • 4 ft 6″ x 6 ft 3″ – Standard Double 130 cm x 190 cm
  • 5 ft x 6 ft 3″- King Size width, but the length is 6 ft 3″ (190 cm ) not 6 ft 7″ (200 cm) like a standard UK king size.

Practicality

• It is self supporting in the centre so needs no central support.
• The width on the base is variable so you can always re-use this base with larger or smaller bed frames.
• It arrives packed with dimensions  87 x 189 x 8 cm and so can be ideal for staircases with limited space.

• The adjustable slatted bed base needs securing to most types of metal bed where it sits on top of the bed frame.
• Because the width is movable, it can slide, so must be secured.
• You can drill through the metal of the frame and bed and use bolts to secure it, or we can provide cable ties on request, free of charge. They work well, with ease and can be hidden.
• Where the adjustable slatted bed base sits within a bed frame, for example, on wooden, upholstered or corbeille beds, it does not usually need securing. If the base does move, or you prefer to secure it, then again, you can use cable ties to secure it to your cross bars.

Specifications

• This base has a dark blue metal frame with 27 lightly sprung hardwood slats with beech veneer finish.
• The slats fit into strong black plastic brackets on the metal frame.
• It comes with 4 end caps which can be moved to the ends on show.
• The base weighs approximately 20kg and is shipped in its smallest form, 87 x 189 x 8 cm.
