Fitting the bed base to antique French wooden beds

  • The adjustable bed base ideally sits on a structure similar to that shown below:

  • Most antique French wooden beds, whatever the style, already have cross bars, or brackets to take cross bars. Some may L-shaped metal brackets, similar to this one:

Once you have the cross bars in place

  • Lay the base on top of them:

The base sits on the cross bars within the structure of the bed. The height therefore of the base in this instance is aprox 4cm.

  • Because the base is not notched it may need securing. Although, if it is within the wooden sides and resting on the cross bars, there is nowhere for the base to go even if there is a little movement.
  • If you do need to secure it, you can drill through the frame, or we can provide cable ties, free of charge. They work well, with ease, and can be hidden.
