Fitting the bed base to iron beds
On most antique iron beds the bases sit on top of the iron side rails as shown in the photo below.
- There are 4 pre-drilled holes, 2 in each side of the frame, top and bottom. You can drill into the sides of an iron bed frame and then bolt the two together.
- Or, you can use cable ties which we can supply for free. They work well and are quick and easy to use.
Fitting the bed base to wooden beds
Normally the base sits within the wooden frame on cross bars similar to those in the photo below.
The wooden framed bed below shows a single bed base sat within the frame. The 4 pre-drilled holes can be used to secure it to your bed if necessary.

For use as a platform bed
This base can be used as a platform bed, or within an antique bed surround, with the addition of matching blue legs, optionally available.
